NNC FOLLOWS ALL PRESCRIBED PROVINCIAL HEALTH MEASURES AGAINST COVID-19
Welcome to the Nanaimo Newcomers' Club (NNC) website. We are so happy you are here!
We have all been through a move to Nanaimo in recent years, and the adjustment that this entails. You have come to the right place to talk with people that have 'been there.' The good news is that you do not have to do it alone! For the past 35 years, the NNC has been a lifeline for women settling in Nanaimo. Through events and activities, the Club offers opportunities to make new and lasting friendships, discover new interests, and have fun!
Activities are the heart of our Club. We provide a variety of activities that reach out to all members. Participating in these groups allows members to become even better acquainted with each other. I invite you to take a look at Our Activities page on this website. You're sure to find things that will interest you, and help you get to know your new home town better!
The Club is organized and run by its members. Our success is tied directly to the work of those that volunteer, by coordinating activities, or serving on the Executive. As in most things in life, it takes a village to make our Club successful.
Membership in the Club is restricted to a maximum of three+ years, at which time a member advances to the NNC Alumnae Group. To get the greatest benefit out of your time with our Club, let me suggest the following:
1 - Come to the regular meetings, which occur the second Tuesday of the month from September to June. Each month will have a theme, with speakers and discussions. As 'making new friends' is one of our purposes, the majority of the meeting is social.
2 - Refer to our website www.nanaimonewcomersclub.org and our Facebook page Nanaimo Newcomers' Club to keep up to date. Enjoy reading our monthly Newsletter about what is happening in our Club.
3 - Sign up for activities that interest you, particularly ones you have never tried. This is the best way to make new friends, by spending time with each other.
4 - Offer to take on a role. You might start small by setting up the seating for regular meetings, or offering to bring a treat for our coffee and chat time.
On behalf of the NNC Executive and all our members, welcome to our wonderful city and we invite you to join our Club!
